How to manifest your future

Half the battle of getting what you want and being the person you’ve always wanted to be, is actually believing that you are capable of achieving it and believing you are worthy of all those great things.

If this is you, then how do you get to that point of believing in yourself, especially when we’ve experienced things not going our way, or the world in such chaos?

There are ways for everyone to feel better, think positively and achieve their goals. Just like a business that develops a new product or service, you need a strategy and a process. I’m sure you have all been involved in executing your company’s goals but we often forget or neglect our own personal growth and development and how it also needs a plan and a strategy.

At work, if you were developing or working on a new service, you would have ideas on how it would best serve the customer, make the customer feel good and ultimately increase the brand’s likability and profits. If you thought in any way it would fail, you wouldn’t do it right?

The same applies to you and your dreams, goals and desires. If you have ideas on how much better your life could be, make a plan to make it happen. Part of the process involves manifesting; the practice of thinking aspirational thoughts with the purpose of making them real. Just like you would your business idea.

Manifesting is not a new practice. Rhonda Byrne’s bestselling 2006 book, The Secret, that sold more than 30 million copies, promotes the ‘law of attraction’ and claims that people can think various things into happening. In fact, world renown thought leaders and motivational coaches such as Tony Robbins, Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle and even Oprah, believe that you can manifest thoughts into reality.

Think about it. If you’re having a bad day chances are your thoughts are negative. If you’re having a good day, you’re probably thinking happy thoughts. By controlling your thoughts you’re controllingl your outcome. Give it a go. Try thinking about something joyful right now. How do you feel? Does it put a smile on your face and make everything feel better? Once you master the act of manifesting, and it does take time, it’s not an overnight accomplishment, but in time, you will see great changes in your life and you will apply the art of manifesting to everything, to ensure that your outcomes are in your control and you live your best life.

Whatever you desire, whether its love, money, a bigger home, a new job or to travel, the following steps that I have put together, following years of research into the teachings of great spiritual leaders, thought leaders and running my own Vision Board workshops and Motivational Change programmes, will help you to manifest your future and create your reality.

1. Be clear about your future goals

What is it you want in the future? What does it look like and why are you doing it? The more clear and conscise, the better.

2. Set your intention that guides your actions

Who do you want to be and how do you want to act, live, and show up in this world everyday. Intentions serve as your internal and moral compass and offers a sense of clarity as you move throughout the days of your life. Ask yourself, what do I want my purpose to be this year?

3. Tell the universe what you want

This can be done through prayer, vision boards, visualisation, writing it down etc, but you need to say exactly what you want and you need to keep repeating those thoughts and aspirations on a daily basis. The more you say it, the more you will believe it and make it happen. I always write down my goals and aspirations, but I also create a Vison Board and leave it somewhere where I can see it on a daily basis and then study every image to conjure up every small detail of my future life and how it will make me feel. It’s a collaboration between you and the universe.

4. Work towards your goals

When you sit down and stare at your vision board or journal with your goals and aspirations, spend a few minutes thinking about what you need to do to make it happen. You will not see any results without actions, so set aside then build them into your routine.

5. Be thankful for what you receive

Gratitude is key to having a wonderful life. Even if you don’t get everything you want in the order or at the speed you want them, be thankful for every small or good thing that happens to you. Try creating a gratitude journal and at the end of the day write down the things you are grateful for and anything that has brought you closer to whatever it is that you are trying to manifest. For example, if you want to save money, getting a discount on your local groceries has helped you to save.

6. Send out positive vibes

I’m sure you’ve heard that the energy you give out in this world is the energy we get back. It’s based on the “Law of Attraction” and its vibrations. If you are able to shift your negative energy into positive energy, you will attract more positivity and it will help you to realise your goals. It’s not difficult to do, just focus on daily activities that cultivate feelings of joy and happiness, like helping someone, going for a walk in nature or making a delicious dinner.

7. Let go of any limiting beliefs

To create a better future for yourself you will need to remove any limiting beliefs including fear and negative self-talk. If you think you’re not good enough or worthy of a better life, you won’t achieve it. A lot of our self-limiting beliefs lie in our subconscious and can be a result of our childhood experiences. Whether we tell ourselves we’re not good enough or we unknowingly behave that way, living in that negative space means we end up acting out of that belief system. To move past this, ask yourself “what do I think about myself that stops me from progressing?” Write them down, cross them out and replace them with your affirmations. If your limiting belief is ‘I am incomplete if I don't have a partner,’ reverse it with ‘I am complete as I am.’ If your limiting belief is ‘I'm not good enough,’ reverse it with ‘I am wonderful as I am today.'

8. Trust the process

As you will always hear me say, and I tell myself a lot these days. Trust the process. The steps you take might need to be reviewed and changed slightly, but your belief needs to remain constant. Trust or faith in a beautiful life is a powerful motivator and will be your guiding force against all obstacles. And by doing steps 1-7 here, your faith should not falter.

Here’s to your wonderful future.
